GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
The Sunday School has developed its own "child-led website - with grown-ups welcome".
Our lively community of Sunday Schoolers will be learning to interview, writing their own blogs, keeping each other up-to-date on schedules and acolyte duties, posting great photos, and talking about their lessons and activities.  Take a look!

 CLASSES EACH SUNDAY

Using the much-praised Godly Play curriculum, the Sunday School meets during the 10:30 service, joining the rest of the congregation for Holy Communion. Our charge is to help young people, from toddlers to teens,  find their way into the mystery of faith and to feel God’s love in their worship and play. Bible stories, the life of Jesus, beginners’ essentials about prayer are taught through story-telling, art, improv, and crafts.
New families are always welcome.

 Youth Sunday
On the fourth Sunday of each month, fall through spring, the young people of the Sunday School and their families take an active role in the worship serivice as ushers, readers, gift-bearers, and occasionally choristers.  A number of the children participate regularly as acolytes.  The Sunday School undertakes such special activities as baking bread for Holy Communion, designing Christmas cards to raise money for church projects, and preparing desserts for the Empty Bowl Dinner benefitting the shelter program of Northwest Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network.

The August 2008 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine included an article by Good Shepherd's Sunday School director Lorene Cary, recalling the satisfactions, challenges, and frustrations of an earlier teaching experience.
Read her memoir "Roll Up the Light of Love" online.
